There is a Beautiful place
where God sends His children. It's the place where children will
blossom into a bride. It's a place called the wilderness. The wilderness is a naked
land, where all that civilization offers is stripped away, and all
that remains is God. But, God Himself said that He would provide
wells and streams of Water to quench our thirst, and not only our
thirst, but the wild animals will also thank Him for His refreshing
waters. (Isaiah 43) With all this said there is a question that
needs to be pondered. Why don't western believers value the
wilderness? It is a sad truth that the Christians of the west are
'Spoiled' by the abundance of 'things'. American culture is driven
by prominence and prestige, not by Godliness. And, the western
attitude has tainted the way we see God. We think that God's
blessing is upon us when we are rich, increased with goods, and have
need of nothing... yet, we can't even see the wretched condition we
are truly in. Few Christians of the west
truly value the wilderness experience. Many Christians complain in
the wilderness rather than embracing God and letting Him be our
refreshment. There is a lovely scripture in Song of Solomon that
reveals just how precious the wild really is. "Who is this coming
out of the wilderness leaning upon her Lover?" It is clear from that
scripture that the wilderness is a place of delightful intimacy.
When the two spouses can be alone with nothing but their loves to
exchange. When God can find a person who will journey into the
desert with Him, He has found His lover. When His presence is more
important to a person than worldly ambition then Christ has found
His bride. And, after a time of passionate "Knowing" in the privacy
of the wild, the two lovers return. She leans longingly upon Him as
the world she left for the desolate places... watches her return.
And those who gaze upon them wonder at the sight of Divine
Intimacy... "Who is this coming out of the wilderness leaning upon
her Lover?" they ask in astonished stupor. Personally, I have found
that when I immerse myself in the world,... after a time I begin
longing to return. To return back to that place where Christ and I
first knew one another under the moon and stars. Surrounded by the
lonely and distant howls of the wolves that stalk men in their
ignorance and tears them all asunder. Watched by the haunting eyes
of a single owl, as it ponders the affectionate expressions before
it. That is my special place. When my Lord and I have only the other
to have and hold and kiss. And, as I sit there among the perishable
things that the world offers for my prostitution... my heart wanders
off, to that quiet realm where only the leaves of autumn's death bed
me down at night, and the dreams of my tender heart unfold before
His eyes. It is then that I abandon myself from a world that in
selfish ambition, wants me for itself in fornicating pleasure that
lasts only a moment, and is soon and quickly forgotten. I leave them
all behind. I cannot help my desire for
Eden. It burns me and consumes me to be called Home again. And,
though I am still so imperfect, Christ offers to me His embrace...
and I so willingly submit. It's my passion. I can't help it. I know
from personal experience that in His presence there really is
fullness of joy, and at His right hand there are pleasures
forevermore. I have tasted it once... and hunger for it for all
time. The wild is a special place for all of us. Most of us here
have been there, and we still long to return. We are brides in
preparation. And, the wilderness time is the only lasting joy we
remember. Nothing else in this world compares to it. Come away with Christ to
that special place. He won't disappoint you. By Thunder Angel
