SOLD OUT to the WILL OF GOD

Sermon notes 8/9/06

Psalm 55:19 “Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God”.

* We have sold out. No more riding the fence, no more “balance act” between two kingdoms.

Ecc 8:11 “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.”

*Explanation of how the Godscare name came about. The gothic community: God cares for them, but they do not fear Him. Godscare.

* The world has a fear of God based on lies about Him. This fear leads them away. However the truth about God leads to a Godly fear that draws us to Him.

Proverbs 1:5-7 "A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."

*The reason the Bible says, “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" is because with the truth of God, self evaluation takes over in us and the proper information about Him heals us. Fear of Him becomes respect for Him and draws us to change our ways.

My six year old daughter loves me, but there was a time that I had to put "the fear of dad" into her so that she would respect me. That fear of me was the beginning of wisdom for her. Why? Because everything I tell her to do is for her own good, and respecting what I tell her keeps her out of harm. An unhealthy fear of me would be if she believed that I just wanted to hurt her and destroy her. And this is the problem with the message of the world about God. They do not believe that God is good, but that He wants to hurt and destroy us all and send us to hell. The fear of God based on lies leads people away from God.

Our job [actually should be our example and not a job] is that we show people the truth about Him. That He is a giver. He is good, loving, humble, and sent His Son to the cross for us. And Hell [as a necessary subject] should be taught as a tragedy and not a "punishment". I do not wish my daughter to be hit by a car, so I warn her. God does not wish anyone to go to Hell, so He warns us.

Loyalty to God means the cross. John 12:24-25

Examples: Taking time from yourself and giving it to prayer. In many things, we must die, that He may live. Our body, His life. Time is short, and the Lord demands holiness and loyalty if His life changing Presence is to abide.

ASK YOURSELF… are there such things as Christians that don’t love Jesus?(John14:23)

…does God count me with the people I resonate with?

…is it possible to walk with a tremendous power of God on my life?

…can God trust me not to shame Him if He gives me spiritual gifts?

INTEGRITY

PSALM 25 and 26

God erases our past when we decide to walk with an established heart for Him. If we do not walk with integrity toward God’s presence in our lives, our past will cling to us with meat hooks.
