Christianity these days, especially in North America, is so sickeningly superficial.

Somewhere in between man's stifling rules and "all you need is love," the practice of truly living as a disciple has escaped us. Authentic worship...*smirks* heck, do we even know what authentic worship is? "Walking with God" is so overused it has become cliché, yet has anyone really done it? Who actually lives their daily life like the disciples in Acts 2:42? For those of you who don't feel like going to get your bible to look that up it's, "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."

What has happened to gut-wrenching, honest, real reverence for God? That is what I want to know. We lost it somewhere among the vast sea of denominations, non-denominations, creeds, and corruption, and I wonder if it's even possible to find it in among any church group anymore.

I'm so sick of Christianity Lite. I'm sick of saying I'm a Christian, belonging to Christian fellowship, and yet feeling empty, Shallow. Unsatisfied.

I wonder what it would be like if women and men actually covered their heads, and bodies for that matter, whenever they went before their God. I wonder what it would be like if when someone entered a building to worship their God; there was an immediate hushed, reverent silence. I wonder what it would be like if people actually sold all their possessions. I wonder what it would be like if people actually tried to live as holy and sinlessly as they could.

I wonder what it would be like if we practiced what we preach, and the Bible really was our standard for living.

I long for so much more out of my faith. I feel like it is horribly lukewarm compared to the Christianity people knew almost 2,000 years ago. Those people lived their faith -- they were real. They didn't need or desire fish decals, t-shirts, or special music to proclaim or celebrate the fact they followed Jesus. They didn't have "youth group," or "campus ministry," or whatever other junk we use to try to categorize the people in the Church. They didn't see the need to make rules about salvation, or dating, or how to witness.

As far as I can tell, all these aspects of Christianity that are so normal to us are in fact only doing the following:

1. They empty the cross of its power.
2. They make life a tedious, miserable existence.
3. They grieve God.

We need to break free.

We need to dig deeper.

I need to find the faith Jesus intended for me to follow. Because as little as I know, I do know this: what I follow now just isn't cutting it.
