Lead Singer Josh Brown turns to the Lord.

Full Devil Jacket (Island/Def Jam Records) was at the top of their mainstream game. Two popular albums, videos and recording deals with MTV, and sold out concerts that landed them a gig at Woodstock 99. Frontman Josh Brown [the former lead singer] then turned away from his rock-star lifestyle after surviving a heroine overdose and a near death experience and surrendered his life to God while in rehabilitation.

Now he has teamed up with guitarist Gregg Hionis in his hometown of Jackson, Tenn., and the two co-wrote the Day of Fire, his first project as a Christian. The album is produced by Scott Humphrey (Metallica, Motley Crue, Rob Zombie) and features Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction) on bass, drummer Gary Novak and guitarist Phil X, (Alanis Morissette, Avril Lavigne, Andrew W.K), along with Mat Nelson (Nelson) on back-up vocals.

Brown comments about his new band, “I’m straight from the world, and this aggressive music is the language of this generation. But it brings a message of hope into a hopeless life." I want people to have an encounter with Jesus Christ through this music and be radically changed forever, ‘cause that’s what happened to me,” says Brown. “And if God can save me, He can save anybody.”

Full Devil Jacket began life in 1995. Local shows in front of fanatical audiences led to demo recordings, a management deal, and a "local artist" slot at the WXTB Livestock festival in Tampa, which caught the attention of Island Records.

The band’s first high-profile gig outside the South, an appearance on the "Emerging Artists" stage at Woodstock ’99, stopped the crowd dead in their tracks, turning them into a packed, chaotic, completely converted audience.

They soon landed airplay in major markets with the accompanying video being shown on MTV’s "120 Minutes." Full Devil Jacket was also handpicked by Megadeth to appear on a CD that came with the first 100,000 copies of the most recent Megadeth album of the time.

Full Devil Jacket was part of the lineup for MTV's "Return Of The Rock" CD, and held the opening slot of the Type O Negative/Coal Chamber tour. They also contributed songs to the soundtracks of Scream 3 (which sold over 800,000

units and includes music by Powerman 5000, Static-X, and Godsmack) and Heavy Metal 2000.

The bands thoughts on Josh leaving them hanging in the middle of rising success? Bassist Kevin Bebout made a statement some time ago on the matter:

"Josh has left the band due to his religous beliefs, he told us that unless the band was Christian and saved that he could not continue. Since then he has been almost impossible to contact by us or management. No one has turned their backs on Josh or talked him down. He has his own beliefs and is welcome to them. The rest of us already have the new material written and recorded. I seriously doubt we will have the name FULL DEVIL JACKET much longer ... There is no more to really be said about Josh or his leaving other than I hope he is happy and he is probably where he has needed to be for a long time , which is in God's hands."

The band has since then changed it's name to "Waxbox" and has found a new singer.

Check out Josh Browns new band Day of Fire! You will not regret it.
